Thanks for your interest! We encourage you to stay connected by subscribing for our monthly e-newsletter. You’ll receive news and updates on Warrior Family Beach Week including information on how to get involved. You may also contact us directly if you have a specific inquiry.

Warrior Families

Our mission is to organize and facilitate a beach week event for our wounded soldiers and their families as a means of showing our appreciation for their service and sacrifice. Each year, a group of Very Important Families is selected as our honored guests.  Click here to learn more about eligibility and the selection process which typically occurs each spring, leading into the summer before Warrior Family Beach Week.

Volunteer Opportunities

Throughout each summer leading up to Operation SEAs the Day, we rely on the help of local volunteers to assist with our event. In past years, volunteers have helped by assisting with our merchandise table or a Poster Pal Project station — there’s also lots to do when the Very Important Families arrive. Each year, around mid-July we post a Volunteer Interest Form, which lists volunteer opportunities and allows you, the community, an opportunity to sign up and get involved. For more information, check out our Volunteer Interest page by clicking here.

Operation SEAs the Day offers multiple sponsorships levels, for all types of companies and organizations.

During Warrior Beach Week, our Business on Board program provides an opportunity for local shops, restaurants, and various beach-oriented businesses to get involved and and give back to the warrior community. These local companies offer discounts, recreational or other vacation-related opportunities to the Very Important Families during their time in Bethany Beach. Examples include local restaurants, boating & fishing, golf and mini-golf, spas, and water sports such as jet skiing, personal water craft and paddle boards.  Click here to learn more.

Host Families

Local residents and/or families will serve as “hosts” during Warrior Beach Week. Each host will be matched up with one soldier (and his or her family), serving as a liaison between the owner of the donated home and the guest soldier during the week. They will help ensure that our visiting heroes and their families are taken care of and shown the best in Bethany hospitality.  For more information or to express interest, please contact  Jim Costas, 202-744-4988 –

Hosts are also the go-to for any concerns or information that needs to be relayed to homeowners and vice versa. Furthermore, hosts can offer anything that they desire such as suggestions and helping in planning their week, providing a home cooked meal one evening, taking the VIF out on an excursion if they so desire, etc.

Show your Support

Throughout the summer and during Warrior Beach Week, there are many ways for residents and visitors to show your support. Summer visitors can create Welcome Posters that will be shared with the Very Important Families when they arrive. Those here in September during Warrior Beach Week line the streets during A Hero’s Welcome motorcade as the Warrior Families travel from Bethany Beach to Freeman Stage for an outdoor concert. Merchandise is also available to show your support for our cause.

Each year, thanks to the generosity of local residents who have offered up their homes, Operation SEAs The Day is able to provide a place to stay for those Warrior Families enjoying a week-long vacation in our community. Each year, we’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of offers we’ve received. Most years, our home donation offers far exceed the number of Warrior Families that come to Bethany Beach! As of spring 2018, home donations have already fulfilled our need for this fall’s event.
